Formula Sprint 2
Sandeep Singh extended his championship lead with a victory in race one, having lost out to pole position barely from James Knox. He ended up winning by an incredible 22 seconds from Mikael Tuomaala after the mysterious Hakumi Junior was DQ’d for off-track reasons.
In race 2 it was a return to the top step for Craig Patterson – the softly-spoken man from Guernsey showed that he still has it with an effortless victory, having taken full advantage of reverse grid pole position.
Formula Sprint 1
Pawel Andrejewski took a very welcome victory, considering his teammate and championship failed to score, in the first race at Hungary, narrowly beating out polesitter Jasse Lahtinen. Oliver Taras completed the podium for Apex GP – it’s possible that they can still take the team’s championship, but it would take a small miracle for that to happen, given the dominance of Malta Force.
Race 2 was a mixed bag; James Knox impressed to finish 5th from 12th on the grid, but the race victory went to Scott Flack to take his first GPVWC win of his career. Veteran Frank Hamming finished P2 ahead of the impressive Jasse Lahtinen, who can still challenge for the title.
Superlights
In a very strategic showing in Superlights, it was Netrex who came out on top, with Soriano taking victory for the 4th time in 2025, his second in the last three. Dawid Krupa and Harry Smith, with his first podium of the season, rounded out the top 3. Multiple different tyre strategies were attempted, but it was ultimately the 2-stopping Soriano who beat out the 3 stops from Krupa to take the checkered flag.
Superleague
THR completed their second 1-2 of the season at Hungary, with Tom Stevens finishing ahead of the hard-charging Jarl Teien.
Once again, THR showed their race pace was a lot better than their qualifying showings, with Stevens moving up from 4th on the grid early on, and after the pitstops, taking the lead from Loic Meunier with a brilliantly executed overtake, that started by driving around the outside of the Frenchman at turn 2, and finishing it at turn 4.
Teien’s race was a little more complex – he needed an undercut in the final stint to jump those around him and move into the podium positions.
The final spot was filled by Maciej Mlynek, after Meuiner faded late on. Meanwhile, 2024 champion Granqvist had to endure a drive-through penalty which cost him a shot at the podium.
The title fights continue tonight with Formula Sprint 2 at Monza.
